Davis proclaims this Week of the Young Child

young-child1.jpg (Snow Hill, North Carolina)—Surrounded by students and parents at Greene County Lucy Hart Hill Family Literacy Program, Snow Hill Mayor Don Davis proclaimed April 2-8, 2006 as Week of the Young Child in Snow Hill.

young-child2.jpg “We must continue to help our young establish a solid educational foundation early in life. The first years of life are most critical. It’s the time that we invest early in life, which adequately prepares our young to be contributing citizens to our community,” said Davis.

young-child3.jpg Davis visited the Greene County Lucy Hart Hill Family Literacy Program to celebrate the Week of the Young Child. He celebrated with teachers, parents and students by reading a couple of books (Puppy and Mushroom in the Rain), singing and dancing.

“I am pleased with the efforts of our local providers. Many providers are working hard each day to build better futures for our children. It’s important for us to recognize our providers for their efforts,” Davis added.

Snow Hill joins the Lenoir/Greene Partnership for Children, other local organizations and the National Association for the Education of Young Children in recognizing the importance of early childhood development.
