Skateboard Park Ribbon Cutting & Opening

WHAT: A ribbon cutting and opening ceremony for the new Snow Hill Skateboard Park will be held by officals from the Town of Snow Hill, Recreation Commission, and Greene County along with youthful and seasoned skateboarders, parents, and various other community supporters assembling for the ribbon cutting and official opening service.

WHEN: Friday, March 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.

WHERE: Skateboard Park at the corner of School Street and Greenridge Road in Snow Hill, North Carolina.

WHY: The Town of Snow Hill Town Council and Recreation Commission advanced construction of the skateboard park with strong community support. The project is estimated to cost $53,000. The Snow Hill Public Works & Utilities Department assembled the Skateboard Park equipment under direction of the American Ramp Company.

This project was funded by the Town of Snow Hill and sponsored by the Snow Hill Recreation Commission. The Recreation Commission’s Skateboard Park Committee made up of local skateboarders and the American Ramp Company specialists suggested the skateboard park design. The Greene County Board of Commissioners supported the project by granting the Town of Snow Hill a long-term lease of the county’s property.

Skateboarders need to register and sign release forms. Registration is at the Town of Snow Hill, 201 N. Greene Street between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in advance of the opening. For the opening only, on-site registration is from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Parental consent is required for youth 15 years of age or under. Helmets, kneepads, and elbow pads are required.
