Vietnam Exhibit

The Greene County Museum proudly annouces a Vietnam Veterans exhibit entitled, “A Thousand Words: Photographs by Vietnam Veterans.”

“At the height of the Vietnam War, 500,000 American servicemen and women were stationed in and around Vietnam, ” said Martin Tucker, photography coordinator and curator.

The “A Thousand Words: Photographs by Vietnam Veterans” exhibit is a collective effort of the Department of Photography of Sawtooth Center for Visual Art. “We have attempted to paint as broad a picture as possible of what our fathers, brothers, uncles, co-workers, and neighbors experienced while serving in Vietnam,” Tucker added.

Vietnam veterans throughout the Triad area of North Carolina submitted 2,600 photographs and slides from good condition to faded or torn, which reflected their service experiences. Volunteers selected, restored, scanned the images, and prepared them for display.

“A Thousand Words: Photographs by Vietnam Veterans” is a traveling exhibit made possible through a partnership with the Community Council for the Arts of Kinston.
