Hill Sworn-in as SH Public Works and Utilities Director

(Snow Hill, North Carolina)—On December 20, 2006, Snow Hill Mayor Don Davis administered the oath of office to Dana Hill following his appointment and promotion to the position of Snow Hill public works and utilities director.

A special meeting was called shortly after learning of Mike Sutton’s intent to retire from his post in March 2007, and an offer for a general manager position to Hill from the Bell Arthur Water Corporation. At the conclusion of a special called meeting, the Snow Hill Board of Commissioners voted to appoint Hill to the position of public works and utilities director and reassign Sutton, who had been serving as the public works and utilities director for the last five years, to the position of assistant public works and utilities director.

”It was extremely important for the Town to take this step and not drag our feet. Mike has done a wonderful job for Snow Hill, and Dana has essential, specialized experience, which is critical for maintaining Town services. He’s a good operator, and has maintained high performance ratings. The right thing to do was to make every effort to keep Dana in Snow Hill,” said Davis.

Hill has served as the operator-in-charge of the wasterwater treatment facility for over 10 years. His responsibilities include overseeing the operations of the wastewater treatment, collection and distribution system. With his new position as public works and utilities director, Hill will be responsible for directing and overseeing the infrastructure and service needs of Town public works and utilities.

“Dana is a hard worker, people-person and has strong leadership skills. You can’t ask for much more in an employee,” Davis added.
Hill is a graduate of Greene Central High School. Currently, he is enrolled in Lenoir Community College, and has completed numerous State-level certifications including a Grade 4 Biological Water Pollution Control System Operator Certification and Grade B Well Water Distribution Certification.
