2006 Candidate Forum

Mark your calendars now for Monday, April 24, 2006 to hear what the candidates vying for your votes have to say about the issues in Greene County. The Standard Laconic, Greene County Chamber of Commerce, Beyond Tobacco, Contentnea Development Partnership, NAACP, GCHS Political Science Club, and the Greene County Cooperative Extension are partnering to bring the best Candidates Forum ever at the Greene County Courthouse.

The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. with an explanation of the rules and an introduction of the moderators and timekeepers.

The Greene County Sheriff Candidates will go first and will answer questions with a time limit for answers. The Board of Education Candidates will be next and will have a different set of questions.

There will be a brief intermission with light refreshments served in the Grand Jury room after the Board of Education Candidates Forum to allow individuals to meet the candidates.

The candidates for the Greene County Board of Commissioner will answer questions after the intermission. Last on the agenda with be the candidates for the NC House.

Voters will again be given an opportunity to meet the candidates and partake of light refreshments in the Grand Jury room.
